Aims and Objectives
General Aims:
- Providing a network of professional support for Egyptian doctors working in the UK
- Improving ties and communications between Egyptian doctors and medical professionals working in the UK
- Providing support for doctors and health service in Egypt
- Providing an advisory health service for the Egyptian communities.
- BEMA will start in the North of the UK .By providing a good working model it will aim to spread to cover all the UK Egyptian doctors.
- To make a better future for our next professional generations
Objectives:
BEMA will have two main work streams; one to support and enhance the standard of the Egyptian medical profession in UK and the other will address the question of how to help the medical profession and healthcare system in Egypt?
Plans for the UK services
1-At the medical school level:
- Career advice for family members of Egyptian doctors who are interested in pursuing a career in medical profession
- Providing guidance Starting for student interested in medical schools Starting with providing work experience, helping them with the personal statements and interview techniques for medical and dental schools.
- Mentoring of the medical students
- Creating support network

2-At the training level:
- Career advice
- Study network
- Help with exams and mock tests
- Help trainees in difficulty
- Improve cv
- Information about jobs
- Courses: Noting Hill college (a UK based Egyptian collge) will provide a UK recognized courses e.g. Teaching certificates, training the trainer and Management with special discount for Egyptian doctors
- Advice and Help with CESR applications

3-At the consultant level:
- Professional mentorship and support for newly appointed consultants
- Building up a network of expertise to provide professional support for doctors in difficulty (trainees and consultants)
- Building up a network of general courses, which will help doctors to grow special interest in certain areas e.g., management courses, teaching (training the trainer), research…
- Help with building up the private practice
- Financial and legal advice.

The group will make plans to help the trainees and to look after the health of the Egyptian communities in the UK.
Plans for the Egyptian services
1- Building bridges with the Egyptian educational and health institutions to help with doctors training and healthcare solutions
2-To help Doctors coming from Egypt:
- Encouraging more Egyptian doctors to apply for MTI and MMED posts for the doctors who does not have a GMC registration
- Doctors who got a GMC registration Could be appointed as clinical fellows
- Professional support for doctors applying for jobs in UK to improve their CV and interview techniques hence improving their chances of getting better training in UK
- Providing them with the necessary information that will help them to cope and integrate with the life in UK when they arrive
- Providing support for Egyptian doctors going through different exam processes\
- Mentoring and Career advice

· Courses: providing a UK recognized, non-clinical, courses of special interest to medical profession e.g. Teaching certificates, training the trainer and Management with special discount for Egyptian doctors

· Professional mentorship and support for newly appointed consultants e.g. business case application for a new service, building up private practice.
· Building up a network of expertise to provide professional support for doctors in difficulty (consultants)
· Building up a network of general courses, which will help doctors to grow special interest in certain areas as outlined above
· Financial and legal advice.

1- Building bridges with the Egyptian educational and health institutions to help with doctors training and healthcare solutions

P.S. Every branch will have an elected committee and mentors from the grades above
· The founder group will elect the leader positions for the first election. once the association is well established and the founder group agree about the constitution, general elections should be carried
· Every branch will choose their leaders but the board should be elected by all member
· There will be job descriptions and personal specifications for every position
· This model will be offered to the Egyptians doctor all over UK
· If we managed to have regional groups, the groups could have a general council that meet may be every three month and we could have AGM yearly
· We took some active steps to start our website
· We should aim to have our journal which could be published electronically
· We will arrange for a general meeting early in October

Membership (currently be used for the venue and refreshments), How much? Also business group should pay for advertisement?
Announcement of the membership schedule should be made in our next meeting
October meeting and pension talk, option for reducing impact on tax, other talks e.g. MTI and MMED, disciplinary process in NHS.
Subsequent meeting should target either education or interesting subject for the whole medical community or both with possibility of getting CPD points
